Under Heinrich XI the county of Reuss-Obergreiz acquired standing once again.
As early as 1747 he set up a court library. His residence was systematically remodelled.
After inheriting Reuss-Untergreiz in 1768 he was able to reunite the property of the elder line of the House of Reuss. Now the so-called summer palace was erected.
Through his close relationship to the imperial court in Vienna Heinrich XI became a member of the Order of St Stephen and received the title of an imperial “Honorar Geheimen Rat”. In 1778 he was raised to the rank of a Reichsfürst (Imperial Prince).
