Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia

(Friedrich Ludwig Christian of Prussia)

The adventurous but rash commander saw his only chance of social advancement in military success.
With a gift for the arts he visited several salons, he composed and played musical instruments.
In 1806, during the war against France and before the first battle against the French troops, he stayed overnight at Heidecksburg Palace and gave a piano concert. The next day he attacked despite an unfavourable initial position. The attack broke down with great loss of lives and the prince was killed.
