The Saxe-Weimar landscape architect is one of the most important baroque architects in Thuringia. He worked mainly for Duke Ernst August I of Saxe-Weimar but also designed the furnishings of the Rococo rooms at Friedenstein Castle as well as the Orangery in Gotha and in Rudolstadt, the castle tower of Heidecksburg Castle as well as the furnishings of the main hall. With Krohne, the international formal design language of the Baroque became established in Thuringia.
