On September 20, 2025, the gates of Thuringia's castles will open once again for a very special day: Thuringian Castle Children's Day is all about young visitors—and discovering history through play.

Numerous castles and palaces throughout the State of Thuringia offer a colorful program on International Children's Day that invites visitors to participate, marvel, and dream. Whether little knights, curious princesses, or budding researchers—every child will find their own personal adventure here.

What families can expect
Even though the exact offerings of the individual venues are still being planned, visitors can already look forward to some exemplary highlights:

• Secret castle tours for children with treasure maps or flashlights
• Kreativstationen for crafting coats of arms, building castles, or designing crowns
• Theater and fairy tale performances, indoors or outdoors
• Historical games and hands-on activities in the castle gardens
• Workshops for children and families, e.g. on courtly life, old crafts, or costumes

All hotels design their programs individually—with lots of imagination and passion for their young guests.

Admission and access
In many participating castles, admission is free or heavily discounted for children.
