Heldburg Castle: Museum Night

Museums Night at Heldburg Castle: Sustainability meets castle romance

On October 18, 2025, Heldburg Castle invites you to a special evening as part of the Regional Museums Night. Under the motto ‘Sustainable,’ a total of 14 museums and institutions in the districts of Hildburghausen, Coburg, Kronach and Sonneberg will open their doors from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. – but Heldburg Castle will be focusing on sustainable castle construction.

At the German Castle Museum, visitors can learn how resources were used in the Middle Ages. A small exhibition shows how building materials were reused at Heldburg Castle and how existing structures were adapted over the centuries. Those who want to get creative themselves can use supposed ‘rubbish’ to create something new on this evening – in keeping with the spirit of sustainability.

Refreshments will also be provided: the HELENE restaurant invites you to linger in the atmospherically illuminated castle grounds. The event is part of a cross-border joint project, which is connected by a specially established bus line between the participating locations – including Streufdorf, Bad Rodach and Meeder.
