Johann Sebastian Bach

Johann Sebastian Bach worked in Arnstadt from 1703 to 1707. Here he found ideal starting conditions that had a lasting impact on his professional and private life.
Due to his good expertise in organ building, the 18-year-old was invited to approve the new organ at the New Church.
After a brilliant examination performance, he received his first organist position here. Free of secondary employment, the young organist had plenty of time for musical studies and compositions. In 1707, he married his first wife Maria Barbara in nearby Dornheim and moved to the church of St. Blasius in Mühlhausen.
