Impressions of the Thuringian CHORal Treasures 2024

Choral culture meets residential landscape

The Thuringian CHORal Treasures entered its second round in 2024. From June 7th to 9th, the Thuringian castles and residences - including the Altenburg Residential Palace, Castle Friedenstein Gotha, Castle Wilhelmsburg in Schmalkalden and many more – used their halls and churches as concert venues for a choir festival in a very special historical atmosphere. Choirs from Thuringia and Saxony and from Berlin to Trier took part in this decentralized cultural experience this year. Almost 1,000 singers from 43 choirs made the residence halls, festival halls and palace churches resound with their voices.

The 3rd Thuringian CHORal Treasures

are scheduled for

June 2026.

The initiators of the Thuringian CHORal Treasures are the Chorverband Thüringen e.V. with around 8,000 members and the "Schatzkammer Thüringen" association of residences. The aim of the association is to create a cultural tourism attraction and to make Thuringia known through the commitment of the people in the state. The "Schatzkammer Thüringen" is one element of an overarching project entitled "Open Friedenstein!", which is supported by the Friedenstein Foundation Gotha. A multi-year grant from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Claudia Roth, supports the project with the aim of creating a radiance for the museum and cultural location beyond the state's borders.
